Pulaski County is a county located in the state of Indiana. As of 2000, the population is 13,755. The county’s county seat is Winamac, Indiana.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,126 km² (435 mi²). 1,123 km² (434 mi²) of it is land and 2 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.20% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 13,755 people, 5,170 households, and 3,779 families residing in the county. The population density is 12/km² (32/mi²). There are 5,918 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (14/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.53% White, 0.92% Black or African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.35% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races. 1.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 5,170 households out of which 33.90% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.40% are married couples living together, 7.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.90% are non-families. 23.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.59 and the average family size is 3.06.
In the county the population is spread out with 26.90% under the age of 18, 7.40% from 18 to 24, 27.30% from 25 to 44, 23.00% from 45 to 64, and 15.40% who are 65 years of age or older.
