Lucas County is a county located in the state of Iowa. As of 2000, the population is 9,422. Its county seat is Chariton, Iowa.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,124 km² (434 mi²). 1,115 km² (431 mi²) of it is land and 9 km² (4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.84% water.
