Monroe County is a county located in the state of Iowa. As of 2000, the population is 8,016. Its county seat is Albia, Iowa.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,124 km² (434 mi²). 1,123 km² (433 mi²) of it is land and 2 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.16% water.
