Pottawattamie County is a county located in the state of Iowa. As of 2000, the population is 87,704. Its county seats are Council Bluffs, Iowa and Avoca.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,486 km² (960 mi²). 2,472 km² (954 mi²) of it is land and 15 km² (6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.59% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 95.98% White, 0.77% Black or African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.27% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. 3.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
