Jewell County (standard abbreviation: JW) is a county located in the state of Kansas. As of 2000, the population is 3,791. Its county seat is Mankato, Kansas.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,368 km² (914 mi²). 2,355 km² (909 mi²) of it is land and 14 km² (5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.58% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 98.79% White, 0.03% Black or African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. 0.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,695 households out of which 23.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.10% are married couples living together, 4.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.20% are non-families. 32.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
