Stafford County (standard abbreviation: SF) is a county located in the state of Kansas. As of 2000, the population is 4,789. Its county seat is St. John.

The county is named in memory of Lewis Stafford.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,058 km² (795 mi²). 2,051 km² (792 mi²) of it is land and 7 km² (3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.34% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 94.97% White, 0.15% Black or African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.97% from other races, and 1.42% from two or more races. 5.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
