Todd County is a county located in the state of Kentucky. As of 2000, the population is 11,971. Its county seat is Elkton. The county is named after John Todd an early frontier military figure. [1]
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 976 km² (377 mi²). 975 km² (376 mi²) of it is land and 2 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.16% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 11,971 people, 4,569 households, and 3,367 families residing in the county. The population density is 12/km² (32/mi²). There are 5,121 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (14/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 89.32% White, 8.75% Black or African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.87% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. 1.66% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
