Union County is a county located in the state of Kentucky. As of 2000, the population is 15,637. Its county seat is Morganfield.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 941 km² (363 mi²). 894 km² (345 mi²) of it is land and 47 km² (18 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.04% water.
As of the census of 2000, there are 15,637 people, 5,710 households, and 4,082 families residing in the county. The population density is 17/km² (45/mi²). There are 6,234 housing units at an average density of 7/km² (18/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 85.04% White, 12.89% Black or African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 1.56% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 5,710 households out of which 32.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.50% are married couples living together, 11.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.50% are non-families. 26.10% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
