Overview of Carver County, Minnesota
Carver County is a county located in the state of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 70,205. Its county seat is Chaska. Carver county is named after the explorer Jonathan Carver.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 974 km² (376 mi²). 925 km² (357 mi²) of it is land and 49 km² (19 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.08% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 70,205 people, 24,356 households, and 18,778 families residing in the county. The population density is 76/km² (197/mi²). There are 24,883 housing units at an average density of 27/km² (70/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 95.95% White, 0.59% Black or African American, 0.18% Native American, 1.56% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.87% from other races, and 0.82% from two or more races. 2.55% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 24,356 households out of which 45.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.40% are married couples living together, 7.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.90% are non-families. 18.10% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.26.
In the county the population is spread out with 31.50% under the age of 18, 6.90% from 18 to 24, 34.70% from 25 to 44, 19.50% from 45 to 64, and 7.50% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 100.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.00 males.
