Nicollet County is a county located in the state of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 29,771. Its county seat is St. Peter.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,209 km² (467 mi²). 1,171 km² (452 mi²) of it is land and 38 km² (15 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.14% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 29,771 people, 10,642 households, and 7,311 families residing in the county. The population density is 25/km² (66/mi²). There are 11,240 housing units at an average density of 10/km² (25/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 96.37% White, 0.80% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 1.14% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.65% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. 1.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 10,642 households out of which 35.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.50% are married couples living together, 7.90% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.30% are non-families. 24.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.80% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
