Boone County is a county located in the state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population is 135,454. Its county seat is Columbia.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,790 km² (691 mi²). 1,775 km² (685 mi²) of it is land and 15 km² (6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.85% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 135,454 people, 53,094 households, and 31,378 families residing in the county. The population density is 76/km² (198/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 85.43% White, 8.54% Black or African American, 0.42% Native American, 2.96% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.69% from other races, and 1.93% from two or more races. 1.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 53,094 households out of which 30.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.50% are married couples living together, 10.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.90% are non-families. 28.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.20% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.97.
