Dallas County is a county located in the state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population is 15,661. Its county seat is Buffalo. It was named for George M. Dallas, U.S. Vice President under James K. Polk.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,406 km² (543 mi²). 1,403 km² (542 mi²) of it is land and 3 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.24% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 97.45% White, 0.12% Black or African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 0.94% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
