Dallas County is a county located in the state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population is 15,661. Its county seat is Buffalo. It was named for George M. Dallas, U.S. Vice President under James K. Polk.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,406 km² (543 mi²). 1,403 km² (542 mi²) of it is land and 3 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.24% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 15,661 people, 6,030 households, and 4,383 families residing in the county. The population density is 11/km² (29/mi²). There are 6,914 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (13/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.45% White, 0.12% Black or African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 0.94% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
