Valley County is a county located in the state of Montana. As of 2000, the population is 7,675. Its county seat is Glasgow.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 13,110 km² (5,062 mi²). 12,745 km² (4,921 mi²) of it is land and 365 km² (141 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.79% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 7,675 people, 3,150 households, and 2,129 families residing in the county. The population density is 1/km² (2/mi²). There are 4,847 housing units at an average density of 0/km² (1/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 88.14% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 9.42% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 1.79% from two or more races. 0.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,150 households out of which 29.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.50% are married couples living together, 8.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.40% are non-families. 29.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.93.
In the county the population is spread out with 25.10% under the age of 18, 6.00% from 18 to 24, 24.30% from 25 to 44, 25.60% from 45 to 64, and 19.00% who are 65 years of age or older.
