Cherry County is a county located in the state of Nebraska. As of 2000, the population is 6,148. Its county seat is Valentine.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 15,565 km² (6,010 mi²). 15,438 km² (5,961 mi²) of it is land and 127 km² (49 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.82% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 6,148 people, 2,508 households, and 1,710 families residing in the county. The population density is 0/km² (1/mi²). There are 3,220 housing units at an average density of 0/km² (0/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 94.19% White, 0.07% Black or African American, 3.25% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 1.72% from two or more races. 0.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
