Harlan County is a county located in the state of Nebraska. As of 2000, the population is 3,786. Its county seat is Alma.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,487 km² (574 mi²). 1,432 km² (553 mi²) of it is land and 55 km² (21 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.73% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 3,786 people, 1,597 households, and 1,049 families residing in the county. The population density is 3/km² (7/mi²). There are 2,327 housing units at an average density of 2/km² (4/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.86% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.16% from other races, and 0.63% from two or more races. 0.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
