Perquimans County is a county located in the state of North Carolina. As of 2000, the population is 11,368. Its county seat is Hertford.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 852 km² (329 mi²). 640 km² (247 mi²) of it is land and 212 km² (82 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 24.86% water.
As of the census of 2000, there are 11,368 people, 4,645 households, and 3,376 families residing in the county. The population density is 18/km² (46/mi²). There are 6,043 housing units at an average density of 9/km² (24/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 70.82% White, 27.99% Black or African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 0.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
