Beaver County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population is 5,857. Its county seat is Beaver.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,708 km² (1,818 mi²). 4,699 km² (1,814 mi²) of it is land and 8 km² (3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.18% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 5,857 people, 2,245 households, and 1,706 families residing in the county. The population density is 1/km² (3/mi²). There are 2,719 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 92.71% White, 0.29% Black or African American, 1.25% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 3.76% from other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. 10.76% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,245 households out of which 33.50% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.30% are married couples living together, 6.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.00% are non-families. 22.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the county, the population is spread out with 26.80% under the age of 18, 6.50% from 18 to 24, 25.80% from 25 to 44, 24.10% from 45 to 64, and 16.90% who are 65 years of age or older.
