Choctaw County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population is 15,342. Its county seat is Hugo.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,074 km² (801 mi²). 2,004 km² (774 mi²) of it is land and 69 km² (27 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.34% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 15,342 people, 6,220 households, and 4,285 families residing in the county. The population density is 8/km² (20/mi²). There are 7,539 housing units at an average density of 4/km² (10/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 68.55% White, 10.94% Black or African American, 14.96% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.48% from other races, and 4.90% from two or more races. 1.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
