Marshall County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population is 13,184. Its county seat is Madill.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,106 km² (427 mi²). 961 km² (371 mi²) of it is land and 145 km² (56 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 13.08% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 13,184 people, 5,371 households, and 3,802 families residing in the county. The population density is 14/km² (36/mi²). There are 8,517 housing units at an average density of 9/km² (23/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 77.99% White, 1.84% Black or African American, 9.10% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 6.17% from other races, and 4.71% from two or more races. 8.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 5,371 households out of which 27.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.10% are married couples living together, 8.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.20% are non-families. 26.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.87.
