Saluda County is a county located in the state of South Carolina. As of 2000, the population is 19,181. Its county seat is Saluda.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,196 km² (462 mi²). 1,172 km² (452 mi²) of it is land and 24 km² (9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.01% water.
As of the census of 2000, there are 19,181 people, 7,127 households, and 5,295 families residing in the county. The population density is 16/km² (42/mi²). There are 8,543 housing units at an average density of 7/km² (19/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 65.80% White, 29.99% Black or African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.04% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 3.29% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 7.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
