Brookings County is a county located in the state of South Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 28,220. Its county seat is Brookings.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,084 km² (805 mi²). 2,058 km² (794 mi²) of it is land and 27 km² (10 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.28% water.
