Fall River County is a county located in the state of South Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 7,453. Its county seat is Hot Springs.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,530 km² (1,749 mi²). 4,506 km² (1,740 mi²) of it is land and 24 km² (9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.53% water.
Townships
The county is divided into three townships: Argentine, Provo, and Robins; and two areas of unorganized territory: Northeast Fall River and Southwet Fall River.

As of the census of 2000, there are 7,453 people, 3,127 households, and 1,976 families residing in the county. The population density is 2/km² (4/mi²). There are 3,812 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 90.51% White, 0.32% Black or African American, 6.05% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 2.54% from two or more races. 1.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,127 households out of which 23.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.90% are married couples living together, 8.50% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.80% are non-families. 32.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.23 and the average family size is 2.82.
In the county, the population is spread out with 22.80% under the age of 18, 5.80% from 18 to 24, 20.60% from 25 to 44, 28.30% from 45 to 64, and 22.50% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there are 109.80 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.80 males.
