Hickman County is a county located in the state of Tennessee. As of 2000, the population is 22,295. Its county seat is Centerville.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,587 km² (613 mi²). 1,586 km² (613 mi²) of it is land and 0 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.03% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 22,295 people, 8,081 households, and 5,955 families residing in the county. The population density is 14/km² (36/mi²). There are 8,904 housing units at an average density of 6/km² (14/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 93.71% White, 4.53% Black or African American, 0.48% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 0.90% from two or more races. 1.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
