Irion County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 1,771. Its county seat is Mertzon, and the county is named for Robert Anderson Irion, a secretary of state in the Republic of Texas.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,724 km² (1,052 mi²). 2,723 km² (1,051 mi²) of it is land and 0 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.01% water.
