Mason County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 3,738. Its county seat is Mason. Mason county is named for Fort Mason, which was located in the county.

The racial makeup of the county is 91.60% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 5.75% from other races, and 1.82% from two or more races. 20.95% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
