According to countryaah, Midland County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 116,009. Its county seat is Midland. Midland is named for the fact that the county is located halfway between Fort Worth, Texas and El Paso, Texas on the Texas and Pacific Railway.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,336 km² (902 mi²). 2,332 km² (900 mi²) of it is land and 4 km² (2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.19% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 116,009 people, 42,745 households, and 30,947 families residing in the county. The population density is 50/km² (129/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 77.32% White, 6.98% Black or African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.93% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 12.17% from other races, and 1.92% from two or more races. 29.03% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
