Navarro County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 45,124. Its county seat is Corsicana. Navarro County is named for José Antonio Navarro, a Tejano leader in the Texas Revolution who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,813 km² (1,086 mi²). 2,610 km² (1,008 mi²) of it is land and 203 km² (79 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.23% water.

There are 16,491 households out of which 34.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.70% are married couples living together, 12.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.80% are non-families. 24.10% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.65 and the average family size is 3.14.

In the county, the population is spread out with 27.20% under the age of 18, 9.90% from 18 to 24, 26.90% from 25 to 44, 21.50% from 45 to 64, and 14.40% who are 65 years of age or older.
