Real County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 3,047. Its county seat is Leakey.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,813 km² (700 mi²). 1,813 km² (700 mi²) of it is land and 0 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.02% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 3,047 people, 1,245 households, and 869 families residing in the county. The population density is 2/km² (4/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 91.40% White, 0.20% Black or African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 6.01% from other races, and 1.54% from two or more races. 22.58% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,245 households out of which 26.50% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.40% are married couples living together, 7.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.20% are non-families. 28.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.80% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
