Stephens County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 9,674. Its county seat is Breckenridge. The county is named for Alexander H. Stephens who was Vice-President of the Confederacy.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,387 km² (921 mi²). 2,317 km² (895 mi²) of it is land and 70 km² (27 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.91% water.
