Overview of Campbell County, Wyoming
Campbell County is a county located in the state of Wyoming. As of 2000, the population is 33,698. Its county seat is Gillette.
Campbell County was organized in 1911.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 12,436 km² (4,802 mi²). 12,424 km² (4,797 mi²) of it is land and 12 km² (5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.10% water.
As of the census of 2000, there are 33,698 people, 12,207 households, and 9,008 families residing in the county. The population density is 3/km² (7/mi²). There are 13,288 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (3/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 96.06% White, 0.15% Black or African American, 0.93% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 1.12% from other races, and 1.34% from two or more races. 3.53% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 12,207 households out of which 43.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.80% are married couples living together, 8.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.20% are non-families. 20.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.90% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.73 and the average family size is 3.16.
In the county the population is spread out with 31.00% under the age of 18, 9.50% from 18 to 24, 32.30% from 25 to 44, 21.90% from 45 to 64, and 5.30% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 105.60 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.10 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $49,536, and the median income for a family is $53,927. Males have a median income of $41,814 versus $21,914 for females. The per capita income for the county is $20,063. 7.60% of the population and 5.60% of families are below the poverty line.
